Your privacy

I am very concerned about your privacy. I appreciate that privacy is a very important issue, therefore I are extremely careful as to how any personal information you provide is stored and used.

There is no pre-registration process to be undertaken when you visit my blog; you can browse to your heart’s content without supplying any personal information.

In accordance with the French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978, amended in 2004, you have the right to access and rectify any information concerning you. You can exercise this right by contacting the site administrator by email using the contact page.

Your email address is collected in order to send you my new articles, contents and offers, in strict compliance with European regulations on data collection. I will not sell, lease or donate your personal details to any third party without your express permission. All emails I send contain an ‘unsubscribe’ link so that you can stop receiving messages. The emails collected are managed via Brevo, one of the most reliable and widely used email managing system. Brevo (formerly ‘Sendinblue’) is a French company. It is GPDR-compliant and ISO certified with ISO 27001:2013 which certifies their high standards on data protection. All data are encrypted and supported by data centers located in the EU. The terms of use of Brevo are accessible here.

I take all reasonable measures to ensure you never receive unsolicited communication as a result of providing this blog with your personal information. If for any reason you believe my undertaking has been compromised, if you are unhappy with any aspect of my Privacy Policy or have any suggestions for improvement, please let me know.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the blog, the data shown in the comments form are collected, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

A “cookie” is a small line of text that is stored within your browser when you visit a cookie-enabled website. As you browse the Web, cookie-enabled sites will send cookies to your browser, along with pages. Your browser probably has options that will let you control whether the browser accepts cookies, rejects cookies, or notifies you each time a cookie is sent to you.

  • If your browser is set to reject cookies, cookie-enabled websites will not recognise you when you return. This provides you with anonymity, but it also makes it very difficult to offer you customised services. It is also less secure than using cookies, because all of your specific data must be sent to the website each time you view a page. Accepting cookies means your private data can stay at the Web server, and the only information transmitted over the Internet is your cookie ID.
  • If your browser is set to accept cookies, any cookies that are sent to your browser are stored in your computer for a period of time. There are a few different types of cookies. A “session” cookie is stored only in your computer’s working memory (RAM) and only lasts for your browsing session. When you close all of your browser’s windows, or when you shut down your computer, the session cookie disappears forever. A “permanent” cookie is stored on your computer’s hard drive until a specified date, which could be tomorrow, next week, or 10 years from now. Permanent cookies stay on your computer until either: a) they expire; b) they are overwritten with newer cookies; c) you manually remove them.

My blog uses cookies to improve your browsing experience and access to site content. You can configure your cookies by referring to the support pages of your Internet browser.

Links

Throughout my blog, you will discover links to other websites. When you follow a link you are leaving my website and entering another site. I am not responsible for the privacy policies of these destination sites. I strongly advise you to peruse the other site’s privacy policies before you proffer any personal information to the operator.

Embedded content from other websites

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this blog may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Normal Website Usage

In order to improve my blog content and usability I collect anonymous data on my server that is not linked to you as an individual. Typically I can see how my blog is navigated, the most popular pages and the type of browser used. I use this information to generate statistics and measure site activity.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long your data are retained

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Notification of Changes

A revised privacy statement will only apply to data collected subsequent to its effective date on this version of the website. Any revisions will be posted at least 7 days prior to its effective date. New versions of this web site may have a new privacy statement effective with its launch.
